Another Sheldon Food Distribution Day!
Saturday, December 12, 2020
This week we were so excited to be able to lead another food distribution in Sheldon, handing out boxes of food and gallons of milk that were donated by the USDA's 2020 food distribution program! Again, the boxes were so well put-together, including products like potatoes, cheese, fruit, yogurt, and a couple of different meat products! Anyone who needed a food box was able to come get one, as there were no requirements! This handout was for anyone who needed a little extra food or help in their house this holiday season!
With the help of amazing adult and youth volunteers, we were able to get the USDA semi-trailer unloaded quickly, and the food was arranged in three different lanes. Cars were then directed through the lanes, and, after they let a volunteer know how many households they were picking up for, other volunteers put boxes of food and gallons of milk directly into their vehicles! This time around, everything and everyone was "on-time" (HOORAY!!!), and we were able to hand out all of our boxes in a little over an hour! In all, we gave out around 686 boxes to those in need, and those who needed a little extra food in their houses as the holidays near and the weather is getting colder! It was such a blessing to be able to support the people around us during such a joyous time, and to be able to honor Jesus together and prepare for his birth by giving supplies, good news, and big smiles to those in need!
