Artist Announcement

We're happy to announce that Unspoken has been added to the lineup for RiseFest 2022!!

"We couldn’t be happier to announce that we finally get to have Unspoken join us at RiseFest 2022!" says President and Founder of RISE Ministries, Rob Roozeboom, "We were disappointed last year when we weren’t able to make dates work, because we know our festival-goers have been looking forward to them. So, to have them in this year’s lineup makes it that much sweeter!"

For a band named Unspoken, Chad Mattson, Jon Lowry, and Ariel Munoz have been making a lot of noise. With multiple Top 5 singles and successful tours with bands like Casting Crowns, MercyMe, TobyMac, Big Daddy Weave, Mac Powell, and more, Unspoken has built steady momentum reaching people all over the world.

Their musicality is distinct as their roots, with their original hometowns raging from Maine, to Puerto Rico. Together they produce a soulful pop, with no fear of mixing it up, whether they're backed by a horn section, gospel choir, or hip-hop rhythms. Their top-notch talent comes through with each song and performance, led by the Adam Levine-esque vocals of Chad Mattson.

Unspoken founding members Chad Mattson and Mike Gomez met while on a missionary trip in the Dominican Republic. Back in the U.S., the two musicians summoned Mattson's childhood friend Jon Lowry, a multi-instrumentalist. Drummer Ariel Munoz was added after he and the trio crossed paths at a Nashville talent contest. Signed to the Centricity label, Unspoken debuted in 2012 with the single "Who You Are," which peaked at number 11 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart. "Lift My Life Up," their 2013 follow-up single, reached the same position. After a couple additional short-form releases, they issued their self-titled debut album in 2014. It peaked at number nine on the Top Christian Albums chart and brought them more-widespread success, including the Christian Top Five hit "Start a Fire" in late 2014. While preparing for their follow-up album, Unspoken recorded a 2015 all-acoustic EP called Unplugged, which featured stripped-down versions of earlier songs. A year later, they delivered Follow Through, their second album on Centricity. It reached as high as number seven on the Christian albums chart and produced the single "The Cure," which became a Top 20 Christian hit in 2017. The song also crossed over to the Hot Rock Songs chart, where it landed in the Top 40. In 2019, “Reason” became a multi-week, multi-format No. 1 Radio hit and No. 14 most-played song on Christian Radio.

Through it all the reason they chose their name still holds: to live lives that are unspoken testimonies to God's love and power, and to speak what oftentimes goes unspoken.
