RISE 2017 Year End Letter

I can’t believe it, but 2016 is almost over!  It has been an incredible year here at RISE Ministries and we’re grateful for all of our partners who walk alongside us as we share the life-changing message of Jesus Christ!

 

 

RiseFest was incredible! We had a dream come true. For the first time, we were able to have Chris Tomlin join us! Building 429, Newsboys, Mandisa, Matt Maher, Crowder, speaker Nick Hall and more also joined us at RiseFest 16! If you were there, you know that Friday night didn’t go according to our plans. A storm wiped out the night (no exaggeration), but with the help of our awesome volunteers and the school providing buses, we were back up and running on time Saturday morning. God blessed us with an amazing day! Hearts were turned to Jesus and thousands worshiped in an alfalfa field as we closed out the weekend with Chris Tomlin!

MARY // RISEFEST 2016

 

Together 2016 was a huge highlight!  You may have heard us talking about it at your church, at the festival the last couple of years, or through our Facebook, Twitter or Instagram page.  If you didn’t hear anything about it and are wondering, “what are you talking about,” let me explain.  Together was a prayer calling for the largest Jesus gathering in one day on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.  Hundreds of ministries and denominations partnered together praying and working towards 1 million people standing on the National Mall this past July 16, 2016 for one thing – Jesus, and RISE was able to be a part of it!  We partnered with another organization called LifeLight, and for a year we worked on bringing as many young people as we could with us.  In the end, 4 buses, carrying 217 students and adults joined us in D.C. for Together 2016!  We had evening worship sessions, work projects, a site-seeing day, and ended all of it with hundreds of thousands worshiping Jesus!   It was beyond amazing!  God moved so mightily, and for me it was a dream that came true after 25 years.  When as a student, I was able to meet Jesus at an event called D.C. 91, now, 25 years later, we (RISE) were able to bring students with us to have their own encounters!

 

God continued to move. Lee and Ellie led a team to the Dominican Republic for the 6th straight year. It was shortly after the festival that 17 students and a few adults packed up, and headed to the DR to partner with the Center for Transforming Missions. While they were down there they were able to paint a school, tear down, and rebuild a home. They also spent time with the local children playing games and singing. At night they would do evening devotions together and talk about how they saw God moving that day.

Although this has been an incredible year we’re looking forward to what God has in store for 2017! We’ve already announced that TobyMac, MercyMe, Crowder, and Tenth Ave North will be joining us at the festival! We’re working on new improvements for the festival. We’re heading back to the DR for the 7th straight year to partner with the Center for Transforming Missions. We’re also beginning a new partnership with Timberline Lodge Bible School and Retreats for this year’s domestic ROTR trip. And there’s more that we’ll continue to work on - new partnerships and new opportunities to spread the life-changing message of Jesus!
