ABOUT THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC TRIP

ROTR DR is a life-changing, culturally immersive experience that takes place in the heart of the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo. We partner with the Center for Transforming Missions which takes care of our housing, food, project materials, project details, and transportation. Projects will take 3-4 days and will likely be one or two of the following: painting, mixing/pouring concrete, block work, and light construction. These projects are done for Christian schools, churches, and/or families in need. The team will also have the opportunity to do some sightseeing that will include historic sights, other ministries, local shops, and the beautiful beaches of the DR. The end of our time in Santo Domingo is marked with an outreach event for one of the poorest communities in the city that features local praise and worship artists, and a speaker and/or entertainer from America.

WHAT WE'LL BE DOING

Projects will take 3-4 days and will likely be one or two of the following: painting, mixing/pouring concrete, block work, and light construction. These projects may include:

  • Light construction projects (mixing/pouring concrete, blockwork, light demolition, etc.) for schools, churches or homes
  • Painting
  • Attending/helping with a VBS
  • Cleaning

More specific details on projects will come closer to the time of our trip. Get ready to work hard and to play games with kids.

A TYPICAL DAY IN THE DR

We will be staying in a two-story complex at the Center for Transforming Missions, with showers and restrooms. In the morning we wake up, eat breakfast together - usually fresh fruit, pancakes, eggs, and cereal. Then we load into a bus or van and head off to our work project for the day. We spend the day working and usually have lunch at the worksite. During the day, people from the community come to see what is going on. Many of the children wander over to hang out and make friends with the new people in town. Later in the afternoon, we head back to the Center to shower and eat dinner. We spend the rest of the evening recapping our day and doing devotions together.

We will take a trip to explore historical sites in the DR, as well as a beach day. We finish the trip off with a community outreach event, where we host a bible camp, do street evangelism, and spend the night dancing and worshiping with the community at a concert.
